BASIC MATH CONCEPT PLAYS, Lession 2
ACTING OUT A MATH PLAY:  Students view the videos of the math concepts and use them as inspiration to create their own math plays where they act out the concept using dance and song.  Dancing basic math concepts helps students understand that math represents quantities.  The vocal sound associated with a number is secondary.  This creative process that links movement, music and lyrics to the concepts of the following math problems is an example of accelerated learning.  For example, students can form a group of two.  One student dances out of the group as the whole class shows the math with their figures and sings 2-1=1 in the language of their choice.  Using various group sizes, the students can create more math plays by some students dancing out of the group.  This helps the students extrapolate new math problems and strengthens their understanding of subtraction.
