Joe Ireland was hired to paint the cover art for Jay Johnson's poetry book "Rainbows" in the mid 1980's. See "Rainbow World" and "Tropical Sunset". Subsequently Jay hired Joe to paint "Rainbow Sunrise", "Rainbow Twins" and "Singing Bird & Girl. In the process Joe gave Jay an education in art’s color value that was greatly appreciated.
